Tashkent Pediatric Medical Institute was organized in 1972 and is the leading institute in the field of education "Pediatrics". Over 46 years of its work, more than 29,500 highly qualified doctors have been trained. TashPMI is a state higher educational institution that carries out educational activities to implement basic and professional educational programs of higher education, as well as educational, methodological, scientific activities in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main tasks of TashPMI:
- training highly qualified competitive specialists, forming a harmoniously developed and devoted personality of a citizen of an independent state;
- development of science through research and creative activity of scientific and pedagogical workers and students, use of the obtained results in the educational process;
- training, retraining and advanced training of workers with higher education and scientific and pedagogical personnel;
- dissemination of knowledge among the population, raising its educational and cultural level.

The institute's structure includes 39 departments. The teaching staff includes 516 employees, of which 76 are doctors of science and professors, 201 are candidates of science and associate professors.
